Vein Specialist Centers announced today that a pioneer for the ground-breaking treatment of spider veins has joined its multi-location practice.

Claudia Rios-Datta, M.D., RPhs will begin practicing today at VSC’s Great Neck, New York as well as Clifton and Paramus, New Jersey offices. Dr. Rios-Datta is a pioneer in cryo-sclerotherapy, which quickly turned spider vein treatments into pain-free, minimally invasive, outpatient procedures in 2000. As a result, the media crowned her the “Vein Queen” during its coverage of the breakthrough medical advancement.

Dr. Rios-Datta is board certified in internal medicine. She is a member of the American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine (ABVLM) and a Registered Phlebology Sonographer (RPhs). She received her medical degree from the Universidad Libre De Cali in Colombia and completed her internal medicine residency at Jacobi Medical Center—Albert Einstein School of Medicine.

In 2019, Dr. Rios joined the Hackett Hemwall Patterson Foundation on their vein treatment mission to Honduras, where she used her skills to provide critically needed medical care to the underserved. This experience gave Dr. Rios a deep understanding of the negative effects of venous disease that impacts the everyday life of her patients.
